Race 1

4 Nerve Of Steel:Didn’t appear to get all favours last time out and from tonight’s handy draw you’d imagine there’s only one place they’re heading and that’s to the top. Hard to run down.

1 Capital Plan:Looked likely halfway down last time out from the same draw but just found one better. Good trip on the cards here just off the speed and can make the most of it again.

9 Highview Justice:Too good for most of these last time out. Second line draw hurts a bit, but might not end up being the worst thing in the world. Can poke through late and play a role.

5 Mrs Zippy:All around the honey pot but just not getting right amongst it at the moment. Better suited here though and not the worst of chances.

Selections: 4-1-9-5

Race 2

6 Go Toddy:Capable maiden up from Canterbury and hitting it out nicely in recent workouts. Should be able to land handy to the speed and give a great sight at a nice each way quote.

3 Vespa:Escaping the hustle and bustle of Auckland tonight and should relish that opportunity presenting itself. Good draw to work from and won’t be too far away.

5 La Vitesse:Hit back to some worthwhile form last time out with a solid third. Encouraging and maybe now heading in the right direction. Should be a player tonight.

11 Blake:Back to the bag of tricks last week with a late gallop. A talented work in progress, but the patience is wearing thin.

Selections: 6-3-5-11

Race 3

3 El Capitan:Another South Island graduate to the Waikato school of excellence. Should be able to make the most of his first opportunity in this neck of the woods, especially from a handy draw.

1 Liberal Arden:Another week, another placing last week. We’re shied away from putting her on top this week so you know what that means - she’ll probably win.

8 Bugalugs:Just like we thought it might a return to form eventuated on Xmas Eve. Tough draw but running on strongly again tonight in this line up.

4 Allonblack:Just another former Mainland pacer - but this one won a workout recently and looked handy doing it. Good enough to suggest the former formlines might be a little misleading.

Selections: 3-1-8-4

Race 4

3 Silvia:Did it tough last week at Alex Park and never threw it in. Better suited here, much better suited. Good draw, aggressive driver and a winning turn looks set to unfold.

9 Imasportstar:Put in some big strides late here earlier in the week behind a really progressive type. Out of the early rush so set to be running home again strongly.

4 Lady Cherokee:Has looked every bit a quickfire winner in all workout and trial performances but meets a tricky field first up and might not be able to bully them to victory.

5 Golden Quest:Herlihy runner at Cambridge is always enough to capture the attention and while two starts hasn’t set the world on fire they have been behind nice types.

Selections: 3-9-4-5

Race 5

1 About Turn:Tipped heavily last week and while fourth, was far from disappointing. Good draw to work from tonight should see an even more positive result.

9 Helena Ideal:Not a lot of form to speak of, but tonight’s draw should work out just fine and with a quiet run in behind them - look out late.

2 Afortunado:Is only going to be better for the first up effort for third here on Xmas Eve. Better draw tonight and should be right in the middle of it all when things get serious.

3 High Point:Continues to race well and should provide punters with a solid each way prospect in tonight’s assignment.

Selections: 1-9-2-3

Race 6

4 Malabar Spur:Fresh up and possesses a good record in that condition. Manners are generally very good so has to be given a strong chance this evening.

1 Sunny Pegasus:In Cambridge after a string of very good efforts at Auckland. Will relish this opportunity and looks a royal chance of success based on the current form.

7 Grey Stoke:Backed as if almost unbeatable last week but let the side down. This is a bit easier so expect a better performance here.

8 Gershwin:Punters worst nightmare this bloke. Can really trot, but rarely does it right all of the time. Shouldn’t be too far away even with a couple of gallops.

Selections: 1-7-8-4

Race 7

1 Machbrad:Yet to finish out of the money on the track and after some strong performances up the road in recent times and from a very good draw, everything looks good for a big display tonight.

4 Comic Book Hero:Racing really well at the moment and tonight’s small field should aid the chances. Can be handy and give them plenty to think about.

7 Delightful Zen:Always a chance and this, if anything, is a slight drop in class from recent assignments so expecting a strong effort here.

6 Prime Silver:Has fashioned a good record in the career and a strong performance here would almost certainly net a top four placing.

Selections: 1-4-7-6

Race 8

7 Wait For Success:Neil Munro trotters joining the Wigg team has been successful already this season. This one goes well enough to be a really strong winning proposition first up in the North Island too.

5 My Boy Boo:Good trotter, bad manners. Still learning and when the penny drops, he’ll win a few quickly. Good chance to get back in the groove here.

4 Saint Michel:Has performed against much stronger fields than this in recent times and a quick beginning should entail a really good result.

1 Te Kouka Dream:Started the career very well with a strong placing on debut. Off the front tape here and might just give them something to chase.

Selections: 7-5-4-1

BEST: 3 Silvia (Race 4)

NEXT: 1 Machbrad (Rae 7)

VALUE: 4 Malabar Spur (Race 6)
